District 10 – The Cheese Wheel is Back with 4 Dishes On the Menu!

Yes, District 10’s seasonal cheese wheel is back (only at its UE Square outlet)! But it’s uncertain how long it will be around for, so be sure to head down soon and satisfy your cheesy appetite.

On tonight’s menu: District 10’s Homemade Tagliatelle ($28) and Spaghetti Alla Carbonara ($26) on the cheese wheel, as well as a delicious Black Angus Beef Ribeye ($30) and Truffle Mashed Potato (+$8).

Pro-tip: Take up to $15 off your bill by booking your table on Chope and purchasing their dining voucher*. (At least, that’s what I did, and I think it’s quite worth it!)

homemade tagliatelle – $28++

From the Cheese Wheel menu. Vegetarian-friendly.

Poured fresh from the pan onto a giant cheese wheel was the Homemade Tagliatelle. Give it two minutes on the cheese, and you’ll have your pasta plated and ready to be enjoyed with fragrant truffle oil, truffle shavings, and more cheese.

Despite having been throughly mixed and tossed in cheese, the light cream parmesan cheese sauce surprisingly retained its lightness and was not overwhelmingly cheesy. In fact, the accompanying bread seemed to be the most cheese-indulgent part of the meal with the heap of parmesan cheese shavings on top!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

spaghetti alla carbonara – $26++

From the Cheese Wheel menu.

In contrast to the tagliatelle, the cheese definitely hit home in District 10’s Spaghetti Alla Carbonara. Slap on another pan of pasta onto the cheese wheel, and you’ll find yourself a cheesy dream on a plate.

This carbonara was definitely on the thicker and more savoury end of the other ones I’ve tried – not that I’m complaining!

With roughly torn pieces of bacon, shaved parmesan cheese, pasta cooked al dente and a good dash of pepper, I was relishing every bite of this.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

black angus beef ribeye (250g) – $30++

Add-ons (+$8 each): Truffle Mashed Potato / Sautéed Spinach / Sautéed Mushroom

Finally! A steak that was cooked to the medium-rare doneness I had requested for. Rare and medium steaks are somehow always finding their way to my table.

The Black Angus Beef Ribeye was a hunk of a steak, boasting 250g succulent, well-seasoned, and tender beef on a plate. Slicing through its slightly charred surface revealed a pink and drool-worthy sight to behold. A bite into this beauty was simply deliziosa, albeit with some bits of chewy tendon. So make sure to do yourself a favour and finish it while it’s still hot!

For those who can’t decide between mushroom and black pepper steak sauce, you can rejoice in a mixture of both, not forgetting those delightfully crispy, thick-cut fries.

We also had Truffle Mashed Potato to pair with our steak. Although it had arrived in a slightly unappetising fashion, I was relieved it didn’t taste that bit. However, it could have afforded a more generous dash of salt.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

So far, everything I’ve tried at District 10 has been topping my charts, in spite of minor improvements that could be made to the accompanying sides. And the service was just as great.

If you’re dining al fresco, you may not find much of an ambience here. That said, their outdoor seating makes the perfect venue for you to chat the night away with friends. However, if you’d appreciate a more sophisticated setting, make sure you request to sit indoors!
